Bright, colourful wedding of Lauren & Daniel…

A stylish rainbow themed wedding…

Today we share with you the bright, bold and colourful wedding of Lauren & Daniel who got married at Hyde Barn in the Cotswolds.

The photography was done by our very own Mr & Mrs Unique supplier Becky Male Photography, so its a pleasure to share her work with you. Personally I love the message in a bottle idea and the cow who kept popping his head into the photos… also the rainbow theme that ran throughout the day from the table decorations down to the groomsmen socks!

Here Becky from Becky Male Photography tells us a bit about shooting the day…

Becky…

Tell us why you love this wedding…

When I look at these photos I’m reminded of the love between the two families and how welcoming they were to me as their photographer – I was given a huge hug by Dan (the groom’s Mum) as I left.  I adore how bright and bold Lauren and Dan went with their details, plus they featured something I’d not seen at any other wedding- messages in a bottle!

They had a number of bottles on a stand with tags tied around the bottle neck each with a different label on them, e.g. 1 year, 5 year, 10 years, 20 years.   Guests were invited to write a message and post it into the bottle, Lauren and Daniel will then smash these bottles on their particular anniversary and read special messages from their guests.

At one point in the day I spotted Lauren’s Grandma shedding a tear, I asked her if she was OK and she rather touchingly told me that she knew she wouldn’t be alive when Lauren got to read some of the messages she had written for her. It reminded me about love, family and appreciating the people around us.

What were the couple’s requirements…

Natural photography – nothing too posed.

Favourite details of the day…

Lauren’s bouquet and the beautiful flowers hanging in bottles from the trees.  Really pretty and great for their photos.

Favourite moment of the day…

The cows in the field next to the venue, at the start of the speeches just as the first speech began, a cow let out a very large MOOOOOOOOOOOOOO almost as if he was sharing his opinion on the quality of the speech!

Lauren & Daniel…

Tell us how you met and got engaged…

We were staying in London for the weekend to see a biking event and concert. Daniel proposed in just as we were going out to find somewhere to eat. It was lovely and we enjoyed champagne at the restaurant to celebrate.

What was your main hopes and plan for the day…

Our aim for the Wedding Day was to have the people that we care about most present, and we certainly achieved this. We also wanted to ensure that we had time to speak to every one of our guests, and as we had kept our numbers minimal we were able to fulfil this.

Was your favourite part of the day…

Our favorite part of the day was sitting at the top table and seeing all of our guests interacting and enjoying the food (and drink!).

How was your day unique…

When it came down to choosing a colour theme we knew that we would be too indecisive to choose a single colour. We broke the traditional rules of having a colour theme and went with bold and bright seasonal colours- anything goes!

Often the groomsmen all wear the same suit. Daniel had his eye on the Hugo Boss suit he wore for months, and it was his idea to wear light blue and have the others in light grey. This really made our group photos distinctive, and if the Bride can have the dress of her dreams, why can’t the groom have an individual suit?

What was your budget…

Our budget was £18,000

What was your biggest expense…

Our Honeymoon to Cancun Mexico, we chose a luxury resort with all the added extras. It was a well deserved break after two years of saving and planning.

How did you save money…

We had been engaged since May 2012 and then started saving a set amount each month. We did not have any Holidays abroad and we saved money at Christmas time by making a lot of gifts ourselves and adding personal touches.

What was it like working with your photographer…

Our Photographer was amazing. When we first met Becky in January she immediately made us feel relaxed, she took the time to get to know us, and our sense of humor so that we would feel comfortable around her. I think this is how everyone should feel on their Wedding Day.

Advice to any couples about to get married…

Our advice to couples getting married, is do what you want to do, not what others expect you to do.

Early on we established that we wanted the day to be special and memorable for our guests but most importantly ourselves. When you are planning your Wedding you only think about doing this once, it’s now or never. We always had budget in mind, but when thinking about putting our day together we had to also take into consideration how much of an impact the suppliers have. Weddings are expensive but if you have found something perfect but slightly over budget, try and find a way to make it work before making your final decision.

Our advice for the day itself is to relax and remain calm and enjoy yourself.

Thanks for sharing this wedding with us Becky and huge congratulations to Lauren & Daniel!! Xx
