Quirky, Norfolk Countryside Wedding…
Today we share with you the joyful wedding day of Kiera and Aiden; a magical day that was bursting with colourful details and cool festival style!
The wedding took place at The Keeper and the Dell; a gorgeous outdoor venue in Norfolk which is ideal for those looking for an outdoor venue with quirky outbuilding and camping options.
From Kiera’s colourful floral crown to glitter face painting, the stylish canvas marquee to the temp tattoo station, there is so much to love about this day…
Jordanna Marston Photography…
Why you love this wedding…
I loved this wedding because I love the boho vibe of the Keeper and the Dell – it’s also no secret that I bloody love Norfolk. It’s my happy place – so stumbling across the Keeper and the Dell was just a dream come true. I love Kiera and Aiden – they were so laid back and such a good laugh – they have remained lovely friends. I adore colour too so this wedding ticked a lot of my boxes!
Favourite details of the day…
The flowers by Kiera’s aunt – so wild, unstructured and colourful. The venue – to die for – rustic, cool, boho. The way that they had styled the marquee and the picnic lunch which was also absolutely to die for. Best scotch egg I’ve ever eaten in my whole life!
Favourite moment of the day…
I know it sounds like a cop out but from start to finish this was a fantastic day. I felt like I didn’t want to leave and I was also close to tears! The humanist ceremony was perfectly personal, their guests were so chilled and lovely, the food and décor was gorgeous and most importantly the couple were a so so warm and fun that it was just an all round dreamy day! It did not feel like work at any point!
Kiera & Aiden…
Tell us how you met and got engaged…
Aiden and I have been together since we were 18 years old. We knew each other in school- childhood sweethearts if you like! We went away to Rome on our tenth anniversary of being together and Aiden proposed at night in front of the lit Trevi Fountain.
How would you describe your wedding theme/ decoration?
We tried so hard to do ‘us’…no matter what! It was an eclectic mix of bohemian style, bright colours and vintage touches.
What were your favourite details?
Little things- we loved that we had temporary tattoos with our faces and wedding date on (found on Etsy) and an evening glitter station. Our food choices were AMAZING! We had the most delicious picnics in wooden crates that Aiden made himself, so many sweet things including rainbow coloured meringues from The Meringue Girls in Hackney, London, and amazing Macarons from Macarons and More in Norwich. We then had an incredible food van in the evening along with a local ice cream van. We also loved our first dance in the evening light on cool Persian rugs from The Little Lending Company.
Was your favourite part of the day?
We were SO lucky to have wonderful sunshine which enabled us to have the whole ceremony outside in front of close family and friends. Seeing Aiden’s face when I arrived was the best thing ever!
How was your day unique?
It was unique to us. It felt like we were one of the first weddings that we’d seen to use amazing props and quirky ideas like the glitter bar, polaroid guest book, popcorn nibbles and haybales with outdoor firepits.
What made you chose your wedding venue?
You only need to see it to understand! It is in the most beautiful setting and it was just completely us. Quirky and cool.
Tell us about your wedding outfits and why you picked them…
My dress was from Lavender and Jude. I said from the offset that I would never wear a traditional type wedding dress I wanted to go completely boho. However, my height proved a problem and I couldn’t find anything to suit. I visited the beautiful Lavender and Jude boutique and was drawn to this beautiful lace dress because of the nude colour. I tried it on-even though it went against all I thought I wanted and I immediately fell in love!
Aiden always wanted a cool suit that was skinny fit –it was all from Topman in the end.
What was your budget?
We didn’t have one! Not because we could spend whatever we wanted but because we just picked bits as we went and tried not to be too over the top but also didn’t deny ourselves things we wanted.
What was your biggest expense?
How did you save money?
Just by being a little sensible and putting a bit away each month.
What was it like working with your photographer?
Incredible. We were so lucky to find Jordanna-she got us completely. She was great fun and we laughed a lot about my discomfort in front of the camera. She smashed it with the photographs.
Advice to any couples about to get married?
Just ‘do you’. Don’t be led down any path or by anyone else’s opinion of what your wedding should be. Do what you want- you won’t regret it!
