About Us…

Hayne Devon is a young and creative 48 hour exclusive use wedding venue. The Hayne Vibe is relaxed, enchanting and soulful and would suit anyone who is into beautifully restored  buildings, magical gardens & grounds, finished lovingly in a rustic-chic/eco-lux style.   Hayne is a real one off – it’s a classic.  Stunning on site accommodation includes ‘Sawday’s recommended’ Long Barn, Shepherd’s Hut, Bunk Cabin, Yurts & Bell Tents. You can even bring your own caravan, campervan or tent!

Set amongst sacred groves of ancient oak woodland and pasture, equidistant between Dartmoor & Exmoor (30 mins drive from the city of Exeter & M5) Hayne Devon sits within the rolling green countryside of rural Mid Devon. Hidden down a maze of high banked lanes, the site faces out towards a breath-taking valley which steps gently down to a bend in the river Yeo. South facing, it gets the first and last of the sun.

The creative duo behind the magic of Hayne are its owners and hosts, Tim and Milla, lead artists in the much celebrated party band Saloon Star. Heralded as the ‘Best Band in the Business’ by House & Garden, and recently listed as ‘Best Wedding Party Band’ in Harpers Bazaar. It was this invaluable ‘gained experience’ that led the couple to move their young family out of London to create their own dream party venue.

The substantial and versatile venue is made up of three interlinking spaces; The Threshing Barn, Glass Link & Rustic Lean To. Beautiful interiors feature 17th Century Oak Joinery, cob and lime structure, biomass under floor heating, (characterful old buildings with modern up to date technology) a mix of state of the art and reclaimed lighting, a handcrafted, fully stocked bar,  disco ball and rocking sound system.

These three interconnecting spaces can be scaled to suit a full range of different events. This enables the client to adapt the usage to suit the number of guests, the flow of proceedings and level of intimacy they may wish to create. Each space can be decorated simply to further enhance the existing naturalistic beauty of the buildings, or be styled and dressed up to the hilt, making it a statement space in which to entertain.

For even larger events (250+), the lawn area directly in front of the Threshing Barn is perfect for the very biggest of marquees or ‘Giant Hat’ tipis giving further versatility and scope to the venue.

Hosts, Tim & Milla’s passion for beautiful characterful buildings and landscape, warm spacious interiors, great lighting, sound and luxurious accommodation has led them on a very creative journey. With an unswerving vision and keen eye for interiors & styling, a very unique and inspirational place has come into being.

What Makes Us Unique…

A wealth of experience in wedding, party and event management for the past 20 years means we pride ourselves in knowing the best local suppliers in helping you to create a bespoke and original occasion at Hayne. Whether that is for 300 guests or 30, our discreet management is carried out effortlessly with style and integrity so that you can relax and enjoy every minute. In combining this expertise and knowledge with the beautiful and romantic surroundings of Hayne we will ensure that you have the most wonderful and memorable stay.

In the Threshing Barn there is a handcrafted fully stocked bar with a fantastic selection of local ciders and craft ales, fine wines, spirits and mixers and bespoke cocktails with Prosecco on tap!  We also have a 2nd bar built into a secret cupboard to enable a ‘Pop Up’ option for bigger, busier events.  For those staying on site in our glamping orchard there is the renovated Milking Parlour providing underfloor heated luxury showers and loos.  All heating and hot water for the site is provided by our wood chip boiler. We also have solar panels which feed into the national grid.

Our policy of ‘exclusive hire only’ means that all accommodation can be taken by your guests and you have ultimate flexibility as to which areas you’d like to hold the reception and dinner. We can seat up to 230 guests and as we have a wedding licence you can hold the ceremony in the 17th century Threshing Barn or the oak framed extension overlooking an ancient wooded valley.

If your preference is to be surrounded with nature, then why not hold your ceremony in our heavenly cob-walled garden brimming with mature trees, shrubs, and perennial borders.  What could be more romantic than being amongst the sweet scented roses, wisteria and honeysuckle.

We are excited to reveal that Hayne’s gardens are open for the first time in 2016 to the National Garden Scheme.  If scented, seasonal and sustainable British flowers interest you, we can also provide an In-house bespoke wedding flowers service, creating beautiful floral displays from our own hand cut flowers grown here in the gardens at Hayne and from other local growers within a 15 mile radius.

Hayne is not only a wedding venue – we specialise in all things enchanting & creative – take a look at our website for details of our pop-up food & music evenings, gigs and workshops.
