1980’s inspired Wedfest at Huntstile Organic Farm…

1980’s Wedfest at Huntstile Organic Farm, Somerset…

Today we share with you the gorgeous wedding of Niamh and Conor which took place at Huntstile Organic Farm in Somerset. Not only is the wedding captured by MMU fav, the lovely Emma from Freckle Photography, it also includes a stone circle ceremony, guest tractor rides, tattoos for wedding rings, retro movie inspired decor, 80’s music ballads, bonfires and an epic pizza wedding cake.. oh and that BEAUTIFUL beaded wedding cape… MAGICAL!

Over to Niamh and Conor to tell us more about their wedding day…

Niamh + Conor…

How did you meet and get engaged?

In our Irish hometown 11 years ago via a mutual friend. Got engaged in Rhodes in 2017 after 9 years together!

Was there an overall theme to your day?

1980’s Wedfest! A celebration of 80’s movies and music.

How long were you planning it for, and what was the best bit?

A year, with some last minute cramming. Best bit – getting our wedding ring tattoos a couple of weeks before the actual wedding!

How was your day unique to you?

We had a tractor to transport our guests to the stone circle ceremony, tattoos for wedding rings, and a pizza wedding cake. Need we say more?!

Wedding / Reception Venue:

Huntstile Organic Farm was the only the second venue we viewed and knew straight away we wanted it. Not far from Bristol airport for our families coming from Ireland. All the staff were friendly and accommodating from the beginning, family run, genuine people and non-commercial, experienced, flexible with options (food, order of the day etc), all food homemade/organic, AND they handmade our pizza wedding cake!

Wedding Photographer:

We love Emma at www.frecklephotography.co.uk because she is super friendly, professional and talented. We loved the colour in her work. She is in the perfect profession!

Venue and Wedding outfits:

Niamh wore a BHLDN dress (Tadashi Shoji) – I wanted a dress that was boho, comfortable and affordable. Went with my gut and bought it online (after becoming exasperated at trying on duds and the cost of designer/bespoke dresses!). The Cape was a must from the get go, instead of a traditional veil (Tadashi Shoji also).

Conor wore a Twisted Tailor Suit from ASOS and his shoes were Vans (what else?!).

Wedding flowers:

Ellen Kenny at Pretty Wild, Bristol.  Ellen incidentally, went to the same secondary school as Niamh and is super talented, professional, and an all-round lovely person.

Wedding decor:

All décor was sourced by us. Favours (sunflower seeds) were from Mind charity. Our bunting and order of the day pallet was handmade by Niamh. Purchased 80s movie themed props for tables, and Crazy in Love neon sign was Custom Neon Signs

All the food was by the venue. We had a hog roast banquet buffet, pizza wedding cake and fish & chips (with Wexford rissoles!) in the evening.

Wedding Stationery:

Our 80’s movie seating plan was created by Wedfest wedding stationery

Our order of ceremony and thank you cards were from Project Pretty via Not On The High Street

Bridal Hair & MUA:

Bride’s friends Laura (hair) and Sophie (MUA)!

Bridal Accessories:

Earrings were from Zara and the Cape was Tadashi Shoji. Niahm had 3 pairs of shoes – Sparkly wellies (ceremony), upcycled Clarks brogues (day) and glitter Converse (dancing)!

Music & Entertainment:

Pop Gun 80s band via Freak Music. They were fantastic, fun and professional! Including a special cheesy request of the Home & Away theme tune…

What are your favourite details of the day?

We had lots of favourite moments including the Pre-ceremony trip to the beach with our photographer Emma. The stone circle wedding ceremony hosted by Niamh’s brother and Conor’s best friend (we did the legal real deal in London 2 days before!). We had a pizza wedding cake, a night-time bonfire and then danced the night away to 80s power ballads!

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding, for either the planning or the lead-up?

The day will fly by so try and savour every minute!
