We’ve had a great year here at Mr & Mrs Unique… But I have to be honest… being self -employed and working on different areas of my business has certainly taken it toll and in some cases left me over worked, stressed and wondering if I was doing the right thing! BUT for these exact reasons, 2016 has helped me streamline Mr & Mrs Unique and I feel we are moving into a really exciting 2017!
Perfect Wedding Magazine shared our Light Celestial Luminosity bridal shoot earlier this year and our own A/W Mr & Mrs Unique Magazine featured the dark version of this shoot. Im also excited to say Bridal Musings will be featuring BOTH of these shoots in the New Year in full- cant wait to see all the images in their full glory.
April was a mega BUSY month for us! We started the month traveling to Norfolk to create a Burning Man inspired bridal shoot which went on to be featured in the awesome Rock n Roll Bride Magazine and it was later blogged in full on one of my favourite wedding blogs Ruffled. I LOVED working with our small team for this shoot; check out Studio 1208 film of the shoot below:
Late April I was invited by SNAP to work with the awesome Bijou Bride to help organise a secret wedding held in front of 110 wedding photographers!!! This meant not only did I get to visit FForest again and that I got to enjoy a couple of days with other wedding professionals; I also got to see Bijou Bride Alex work her wedding planning magic in person… what an incredible day it was <3
Binky Nixon and I held two Tie The Knot Wedding Carnivals this year- one in May and one in October. Both events were bustling with excited brides and grooms and hosted some of the most creative wedding suppliers in the Hertfordshire area.
In 2016 we have released two editions of our Mr & Mrs Unique Magazine. Full to the brim with creative real weddings, creative shoots and bridal inspiration; perfect for couples looking for something a bit different for their big day. Our new look Autumn/Winter edition actually made it into print and was distributed to couples from some of our incredible venues across the UK. Our upcoming Spring /Summer edition will include a collaboration with a well know wedding fair… but more on that soon!
In October we were invited to The Wedding Blog Awards as we were nominated for two awards- Best Alternative and Best Big Day Inspiration Venues. I was so chuffed to bring home the Best Big Day Inspiration Venues award which now sits proudly on my desk! Im not hugely into award ceremonies but when its been such a big year for us, it was lovely to gain some recognition for all the hard work we do with our suppliers… a huge thank you to Hannah and Alex that have been my backbone this year!
One of the biggest joys this year has been the projects we’ve got to work on; and 2016 brought lots of new collaborations including working with Kat from Rock n Roll Bride Magazine. Alex (Bijou Bride) and I were asked by Kat to come and style one of her fashion editorial shoots earlier this year down in Brighton with photographer Lisa Devlin. We have since gone on to plan more shoots and I’m proud to say that Alex and I are now the newly appointed Rock and Roll Bride Magazine’s Fashion Editors!!! What an awesome way to finish the year!!
Its been a big year for our directory and the amazing suppliers we have on board. Lots of our suppliers have been part of the MMU team for over 4 years now and we have our 5 year birthday coming up in March. Its also been a great year for finding new, amazing, creative suppliers and I cant wait to get my teeth into the new year!
So here is to 2017!!! Hope it brings us all happiness, fun and inspiration XX
