Electric neon Brighton Wedding Inspiration at Hotel Pelirocco

Eclectic Neon Brighton Wedding Inspiration…

If you are looking for some vibrant Brighton wedding inspiration; the lovely Sally from Events By Design shares with us  “A Wild Heart Tamed Me’ bridal shoot set in and around the Brighton streets and at the iconic Hotel Pelirocco. With alternative bridal wear, quirky grooms wear and pops of neon its a colour lovers dream…

Sally from Events By Design

Jack and Jaz oooooze love.  I wanted to capture their spirit, their passion and their love of something a bit quirky, rather than fake ceremony shots and stuffy poses.  I knew that they had two really unique tattoos – the Jack and Queen of Hearts –  and these really inspired my choice of concept.  I wanted the shoot to show their connection and commitment to one another but in a way that was personal to them.  Bringing together the playing card idea and their love of skulls meant that we could create something eclectic and unique.

I wanted to make the shoot burst with colour and so chose neon brights and an alternative electric palette.  This complimented the venues; Hotel Pelirocco is an eclectic boutique hotel: the room itself is homage to Betty Page, the famous Pin-up girl which created a very sexy vibe; Meat Liquor which is wall-to-wall graffiti and neon and then finally the graffitied

How to deal with anxiety and a lack of confidence when planning your wedding

Wedding anxiety…

By now, I’m sure you’ll have noticed there’s a (damaging) stigma attached to wedding planning that suggests it will be the best time of your life, and that everyone who goes through it is just having a totally AWESOME time with their AWESOME friends doing AWESOME things (yes, you were supposed to read that in a Janis Ian voice. Top marks.) We’re here to tell you that a) they’re probably lying, and have cried into their binder at least once, b) wedding planning is stressful and c) your jumbled-up tummy-wobbling feelings about it are totally valid.

Ironically, what makes wedding planning such an exciting time is also what can make it such a terrifying time. The chances are you won’t have planned anything like this before – and even if you have, it most likely wasn’t for yourself, so there were different levels of emotional attachment to it – so it’s a totally unique experience with totally unique flashpoints. In short, there’s a lot of new territory, a lot of expectations, and a lot of pressure that can create the perfect breeding conditions for wedding anxiety to reign supreme.

If you’re feeling wedding anxiety whilst you’re in the planning stages, our advice on how to deal with it is not “Get over it” – in fact, today’s Number 1 Top Tip is to …

Chinoiserie Decadence at Aynhoe Park

Floral Decadence at the stunning Aynhoe Park…

If you haven’t seen this incredible bridal shoot in our 2019 magazine yet… then we have a treat for you today!

Blowsy blooms and neon hearts from Mr & Mrs Unique supplier Rebel and The Rose, vibrant feathers birds, a stunning Hermoine De Paula embroidered dress and lip smacking wedding food. Over to stylist Sophie Taylor to tell us more…

Sophie Taylor…

As a wedding stylist you seek inspiration from everything and anything. A photoshoot in a magazine, an Instagram post, a piece of art on a museum visit or a film you may have watched.

For this styled shoot at Aynhoe Park I was inspired by a beautiful emerald green, chinoiserie 3 piece sofa that my partner James had bought. This beautiful piece of furniture in carved wood and gorgeous hand painted detail, inspired me to explore a wedding theme based around the colours, flowers and use of birds.

Esther from Rebel and the Rose was keen to create the look with me. I really wanted to create something up the stairs as a lead into our stunning Orangery. I loved her suggestion of making a wild, overgrown floral archway using lots of greenery alongside rose pink to deep fuchsia peonies, purple delphiniums, open blush roses and white lilacs.

I used birds we had from around the

How to shop indie for your wedding

Indie Wedding Shopping…

If you’re on the hunt for alternative, quirky wedding suppliers to bring your wedding dreams to life, you may have already realised that your best bet is probably an independent supplier. They have more scope for flexibility with your ideas, are generally much more creative, and have smaller teams (meaning a smoother relationship with them from start to finish). And that’s not to mention that wonderfully famous happy dance every small business owner does when you place an order, and the feeling of satisfaction you receive from supporting their dream when building your own.

And if you’re already here on the veritable hub of all things unique wedding ideas, Mr & Mrs Unique, the chances are that you’re pretty sold on the idea of having indie wedding suppliers. But, how do you find them? As they’re smaller, they tend not to have huge marketing budgets, and so they might not be so obvious to find. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back – here’s our top tips on how to shop indie for your big day.

Straight off the back of that marketing chat, a super powerful tool to connect with independent wedding suppliers is social media. Sure, small businesses don’t typically have thousands of pounds to sink into posters on the side of buses or billboards in Piccadilly Square; …

Urban jungle wedding inspiration at the Barbican Estate, London…

Where did you get your inspiration from?

Tim Dunk Photography… My favourite place in London is the Barbican Estate. I have wanted to shoot there for a while. The brutalist architecture, its immense size, the clean lines and curves which create such interesting light and shadow, and it’s ‘grey’, create the perfect storm for an atmospheric kind of photography. As if that isn’t enough, the Barbican then, out of nowhere, welcomes you into its beating heart; the green, abundance of the Conservatory.  That incongruity is what we wanted to bring into our shoot.

How did you find the suppliers who made this concept come to life?

Although I am Leeds based,  I am part of a large community of wedding industry suppliers nationwide.  I have built many great relationships.

I met our florist, Eram from Boom Blooms, at a photography workshop. We both really liked one another’s work and wanted to work together.

Via social media we contacted, Lara, the designer, Freya, the make up artist, and Heather, our model. Our aim was to bring a team together who were as excited by the drama of the space as us.

What details are your favourite, and why?

There are so many little nooks, and larger vistas, on the estate. With each turn, there is something new to see and document.
