Creative & Colourful Woodland Wedding at Walcot Hall, Shropshire

A wedding day with two wedding dresses (one of them red) and a woodland ceremony where the bride and her gang arrive on the back of a vintage Chevrolet pickup? I mean, what’s not to love?! Gemma & Xavier’s epic wedding weekend took place at one of Mr & Mrs Unique’s fab supplier venues, Walcot Hall in Shropshire.

Over to the venue to tell us a bit more about this memorable wedding weekend…

What did you love about the couple and their ideas for their wedding day?

Gemma & Xav really got Walcot Hall. They loved the wedding venue just as it was, but also saw great potential in many other areas around the estate, hoping that they could ultimately do something a bit different to really put their own stamp on the day. We have a fairly flexible approach to weddings and secretly love it when couples come to us brimming with ideas, thinking outside of the box.

Gemma & Xav run a creative studio in London so we knew from the beginning that they were going to create something truly special and totally unique to them!

If you could describe their day in three words what would it be?

Creative, colourful, authentic!

Siobhán and Toby’s cool London wedding definitely nailed their original brief…colourful, casual, non-traditional, authentic and modern!

The bridal party all wore trousers, they had neon signs decorating every corner (cue Mr & Mrs Unique favs Vowed and Amazed), the food was off-the-hook delicious and they choreographed a Riverdance routine with their bridesmaids and groomsmen as a surprise for their first dance… this is one to see!!

How did you meet and get engaged?

We met at university and ended up proposing to each other! We’d been together for 10 years and had been discussing it for a couple of years. We wanted to do it in a way that felt ‘equal’ rather than one of us going off and planning it all then just “surprising” the other. So we came up with the idea to go away for the weekend and both prepare words for each other as part of a joint proposal. It was surprisingly emotional and special despite us both knowing in advance.

Was there an overall theme to your day? If so, what was it?

Colourful and comfy! We wanted the atmosphere to be relaxed and fun with lots of

Laid Back Bristol Wedding with a yellow wedding dress held at The Mansion House

Laid Back Bristol Wedding with Epic Bridal Style

We love it when a couple buck a couple of the obvious wedding traditions but non more so than an alternative-to-white wedding dress. Charlotte’s choice; a sunshine yellow Outline dress and statement shoes, made our heart sing!

Charlotte and Jack held their laid back May wedding at The Mansion House in Bristol, captured beautifully by our very own Mr & Mrs Unique supplier Kate Jackson Photography!

How did you meet and get engaged?

We met on Guardian Soulmates (old school online dating, before Tinder!) in Autumn 2012 – he took me to a romantic pub in Croydon for our first date and watched Sky Sports over my shoulder, obviously things improved after that.

We had our little girl in 2017 and got engaged in August 2018 when she was six months old. He took us on a walk in our local cemetery (trust me it’s beautiful) and asked me; ‘what do you want to drink with your tea tonight?’. I thought it was a bit odd but I replied ‘maybe I’ll have a G&T or something?’ to which he said ‘well would you like some champagne, and to marry me?’

Of course I said yes but he was so nervous he hadn’t

What a wedding to share with you on Valentine’s Day!

When we heard that Indi & Pete had named their celebrations their ‘phatty wedding’ we knew it would be a corker, and it didn’t disappoint! Theirs was a weekend full of fun, colour and community, all centered around a pair of amazing Moroccan tents supplied by our very own Mr & Mrs Unique supplier The Fantastical Tent Company!

Indi & Pete…

How did you meet?

We met when Pete was at university and I was visiting a mutual friend. We became clubbing/partying buddies as a group and hung out as friends for a couple of years, before randomly deciding to go India together, where we spent 24/7 with each other. It was only on our return when we missed each other did we start inadvertently dating until we finally got together (apparently it was obvious to friends months before!).

How did you get engaged?

We went back to India about 3 years later and Pete lead me into the ocean, got down on one knee and proposed before nearly getting swept away by a wave! Luckily I said yes as the ‘Delhi Belly’ I thought I had at the time was

What’s not to love about todays London wedding!

Kelly & George had a fun filled wedding held at the Core in Clapton. I absolutely ADORE the simple white backdrop alongside the abundance of pretty florals that surrounded their ceremony.

Plus those red embroidered shoes paired with that gorgeous non wedding dress by London designer Renli Su… absolute perfection!!

How would you describe your day?

Our day was about celebrating our relationship with our family and friends. The day was full of laughter, tears of joy and euphoric dancing.

How long were you planning it for, and what was the best bit?

After being together for 13 years, we wanted to get married as soon as possible so we got married a year after getting engaged. We really enjoyed
