Cool, Modern Bridal Inspiration at Botley Hill Barn…
Hey folks, I hope you are doing ok and enjoyed the bank holiday sunshine.
Over the weekend I had the pleasure of introducing the super lovely Ashleigh from Pink Palms Events to our Mr & Mrs Unique Directory , and today I promised you that I would share one of her epic, creative bridal shoots – so here it is and it’s a right cracker!
I adore the cool, modern approach to the wedding styling – with the flower explosion chair, fringed wedding dress, stylish bridal accessories, and epic tablescapes showcasing an abundance of florals in pink, red and coral hues… it’s a real visual treat.
Set at the uber-cool Surrey wedding venue of Botley Hill Barns; you can clearly see why the team chose this contemporary barn as the backdrop for their bridal shoot.
Over to Ashleigh from Pink Palms to tell us more about the bridal inspiration and the incredible team she worked with to make it happen…
Ashleigh from Pink Palms…
Where did you get your inspiration from?
The team at Botley Hill Barn approached me to do a shoot there, and I chatted with Elena about it over a coffee date and we started to put the dream team together. We wanted to create a modern, contemporary Autumn/Winter design for a Surrey venue. It was really important that we created a design that sat well with the character of Botley, but the kind that would appeal to London or city-based couples.
How did you find the suppliers who made this concept come to life?
This is where it gets a little crazy! So Elena and I had worked together before on weddings & shoots, but the rest of the team were brand new to each other. I’d been chatting to Kai – My Lady Garden for ages and we knew our styles aligned, and this was the chance to showcase it!
I had also been a HUGE Portraits Bridal fan for so long, and asked Zara (lead hair stylist at Portraits) if she wanted to join the team. I met Grace who owns You Had Me At Hello at the Un Wedding show in the September, and Vaani at SugarPlum Bakes Kingston had worked with Elena previously. Elena also knew Cara at Story of My Dress Bridal and Kathryn at Vamoose, and both wanted to be a part of it. So we definitely weren’t all connected, most of us had never worked together before. But it was total magic that day, it was such an incredible shoot and we’ve become such an amazing team!
What details are your favourite, and why?
I think the floral installation around the chair, the sketches of that beforehand were hilarious! Kai knew instantly what we were going for and really brought it to life. I absolutely love the mint green faux fur coat, the crown from AM Faulkner and the Anthropologie chopsticks!
Do you have any styling tips for readers looking to emulate this shoot?
It works because it’s the right concept for that style of venue-so I really think take your venue into consideration first. Botley Hill Barn has very neutral décor, so the red & orange florals contrast perfectly.
The main thing is, don’t be afraid to inject modern touches into your design no matter what style of venue you have!
What is it that makes your shoot unique?
That it brings a fresh feel to a new venue in Surrey. We wanted to showcase how city-loving couples might have their wedding in a venue a little further out with enough space for their guests.
What’s the most important tip you have for couples planning their wedding?
If you spend time at the beginning of your engagement getting loads of inspiration, then curate it BEFORE you book a venue or suppliers-you will absolutely nail your vision every single time! Take your time, enjoy your engagement, you’re only in the wedding world for a short period of time so make the most of it!
