A Tim Burton Inspired Wedding…

First up is this gloriously gothic Tim Burton inspired bridal shoot, complete with ‘Billy’ the squirrel! This shoot was created by the lovely Erin from Way Out Wedding, and beautifully styled by Lou from Beyond Vintage. We love this shoot here at MMU and wanted to give you a little more insight into how the inspiration came about and how the styling was put together on the day. Over to Erin and Lou!…

Erin…
The inspiration for the shoot was simply Tim Burton. The team members are all huge fans of the quirky gothic styling he brings to his films, and so our Pinterest planning board was fantastic!! We focused on his women characters to bring it into the bridal world, and we had a two-part story: one was how his blonde and innocent heroines (e.g. Johanna in Sweeney Todd) would dress for a wedding, and the other was how his anti-heroines (Victoria from The Corpse Bride, or Mrs Lovett from Sweeney Todd again) would style themselves.

The styling was bold and arresting – think skull jewellery, gothic dresses, in-your-face make-up, a dark denim coloured naked cake covered in vintage lace, gothic millinery, amazing flower crowns, a quirky venue, and taxidermy – and yet all the elements were perfect for an alternative wedding and not at all alienating for real life.

Lou…
The styling seemed to just flow – not difficult when the venue (The Dead Dolls House) was so awesome. I pulled the vintage dirty/weathered bottles from my collection and mixed with gold.

For the table, I used the gold ornate plate chargers and layered with the plate and black satin napkin tied with Rosary beads to give a gothic feel. The gold edge glasses were DIY using glass paint and sponge brush around the edge.

Mexican Day of The Dead Wedding Inspiration…

Photos by We Heart Pictures

Up next is one of Mr and Mrs Unique’s very own; a Mexican/ Day of the Dead inspired bridal shoot! The Basement Florist provided some pretty stunning flowers, which were teamed with Cacti, fruit, tequila bottles, beautiful succulents and an array of animal skulls, for a truly awesome Mexican feel. Enter the wonderful Hector and Charlie from We Heart Pictures  who captured the whole thing down to a T!

Katherine from Arabian Tents joined us to showcase her new Latin American Marquees, here’s what she had to say…

I love bright colours, and love creating interiors that will lifts your spirits when you enter them. Being a huge fan of South American fabrics, colours and designs combined with the popularity of street food instead of the standard sit-down meal, the fashion at events for bright pops of colour on white backgrounds, and the opportunity to theme it with delicious rum-based cocktails, I’m hoping the new Viva La Fiesta interior will really make parties go with a swing.

A Super Kitsch Wedding Inspiration…

Paola De Paola Weddings

This eccentric, Kitsch, same sex wedding photo shoot was produced by Lau from Frenchmade who is an amazingly talented cake baker and captured by our very own MMU Supplier Paola De Paola who specialises in same sex wedding photography. Who ever thought artificial plants, light up bunnies and flamingos could look so fabulous!?

Lau
My inspiration for this shoot was some French 80’s artists I grew up admiring.

There was a huge ‘kitsch’ trend in France at the time with artists like Lio, Rita Mitsouko but also Pierre et Giles and their collaboration with fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier and British singer Marc Almond: bright colourful costumes, lots of sequins and glitters, a bit twee, a bit ‘anarchic’ but with a touch of cabaret glamour, fun and open-mindedness.

This was the inspiration behind our styled shoot, with an emphasis on equal marriage.

Circus Themed…

Wow Table settings_0004

Here we have a super fun and colourful Circus Bridal shoot, put together by the team at Ruby & Stardust, a fabulous collaboration between Georgina from Ruby Wedding Design & Shannon from SLR Photography.

Here Georgina tells us a bit behind the thought process for the table settings…

Our wedding breakfast table was a busy display of the most colourful flower combinations in a range of golden vases along with jars filled with candy floss and popcorn topped with our golden animals. We kept up the colour quota with red, yellow & blue wine glasses and tumblers. We used a colourful retro floral print on our crockery and each place setting had a different coloured cupcake and a brooch or magnet as a place name.

London Warehouse Wedding Inspiration…

Wow Table settings_0011

Jess and Kev’s wedding just oozes cool, and is one of our favourites here at MMU (check out more awesome photos in our SS15 magazine! ) The wedding was shot by the lovely Binky from Binky Nixon Photography, in a super cool Shoreditch warehouse. The table settings were simple but vibrant and the choices of flowers were just perfect for this fun loving couple.

Binky tells us a little bit about the day and why she loved it so much (we can certainly see why!)…

didn’t actually meet Jess & Kev for a chat prior to their engagement shoot, so when I rocked up in Shoreditch and saw two super smiley faces, bright funky clothes and a pair that were up for anything, I knew we were going to have a blast. I totally loved what they chose to do for their engagement shoot so expected nothing less than a fabulous day for their wedding. It was certainly that, bright, colourful, musical, serious when it needed to be, emotional, decked out beautifully and mostly a room filled with people that adored one another.

My good friend Charlie (owner of The Flower Fairies) is sister to the bride, so naturally had decked the place out with stunning flower arrangements. They had gone for brights everywhere, with lots of music, delicious Caribbean cuisine and a super laid back atmosphere.

A Stylish, Eccentric Aynhoe Park Shoot…

Wow Table settings_0013

Last but certainly not least is our shoot from Aynhoe Park in January which has just gone into the Sept/Oct addition of You and Your Wedding!! With the help of Alex from The Bijou Bride and over 20 of our amazing suppliers, this glittery, girly and grand table setting was created – wow!
