What made you start up the business?
I haven’t always been obsessed with photography or one of those people who have had a camera in their hand since they were old enough to walk… but I am now obsessed with photography. Shortly after my beloved Nan passed away, my granddad pulled out his wedding album, you know the old fashioned kind you stick the images in yourself. It was beautiful, seeing the emotion, the rawness and tears rolling down his cheeks from losing his lifelong best friend, and the emotion of what he felt that day. Each and every photo triggered a memory for him that pulled on every single heartstring. Seeing him smile and stare at those images with so much love and devotion through teary eyes reminded me how much love really means, and how important it is to be able to have those memories forever. I’d had ideas of wanting to be a photographer but In all honesty I didn’t have a clue how to go about it, but this moment concreted it for me, I didn’t know how I was going to do it but I knew from then on what I was going to do was a gift!
What do you love most about your job?
There’s not one single thing I love more than anything. I know it’s such a cliché but I love EVERYTHING about what I do.
Meeting new amazing couples, seeing so much love around me, documenting stunning weddings, getting to party with my couples (yes most of my couples ask me stay afterwards to dance the night away with them) and then providing my couples with memories to last a lifetime. What I do is a gift… it’s amazing, it’s the best job in the world!
What makes you unique?
Well every single of one of us is unique, but with me I like to think I’m a little more unique than most. Firstly I totally get how important it is to break away from tradition and plan a wedding that’s so true to your beautiful souls, but also I want to be able to give you EPIC couples a gift… a gift of your emotions flooding back to you in whirlwinds with every image you view of your final wedding collection. When you see the first kiss, you’ll remember the fluttering feeling in your tummy you had the time, right through to that image of the Jagertrain… you’ll remember the hangover the next day. I’m a proud story teller, and an emotive one at that!
Who is your ideal customer?
Laid back, edgy, quirky, alternative or indie couples, in touch with nature.. Those planning something a bit different. The couples who don’t care about traditions, they’re not bothered about formalities and they just want to have fun.
What advice do you give to make sure people book the right suppliers for their day?
I always tell my couples to find suppliers that really get them as a person, suppliers that take the time to understand their wedding. More importantly, I advise them to look for suppliers they think they could be friends with… as they are the right ones for them!
What inspires you?
Nature is where I find a lot of inspiration for my business, for styled shoots, ideas for themes for weddings, etc; and my husband! Every day he’s so proud of me, and being that proud inspires me to grow more!
Projects you are most proud of or your proudest moment?
My proudest moments are nothing to do with photography but more personally – it’s about marrying my best friend and finding my soul mate. I’m proud of the wedding we pulled off!
What’s your top on the day wedding advice?
Don’t stress – heck things will go wrong but do you know what you won’t even notice.
Don’t of the guests, just party, relax, do whatever you want to do that makes you happy
There’s no such thing as doing things the wrong way – just do it your way and be true to who you are.
Don’t let your mates put pictures on social media until you share your first image… it’s YOUR day, you want to share what you want!
What makes a great wedding?
Friends with loads of bants – and if you don’t have them whack some money behind the bar, you’ll get lots of bants then.
A wedding that’s totally true to who you are, you’ll find your friends are quite similar to you so there’s nothing worse than planning a pristine all white traditional wedding if that’s not who you are. You’ll feel uncomfortable, your family and friends will pick up on this and they too will feel the same. Just be you… and sprinkle your ‘you dust’ everywhere.
That awkward lull after the food – if you’ve had a full on wedding all day leading up to your food, make sure the madness continues. Or if it’s a relaxed vibe, keep it going. You’ll be grateful you did.
Any new services, ideas or future plans?
There’s so many ideas and plans going round my head all the time, in fact I have a huge notebook full of all my new ideas that I carry everywhere with me.
I’m shortly going to be offering ‘a day in the life’ shoots too – so watch this space.
