We Welcome…

Today we welcome Madame B’s Boutique to Mr &  Mrs Unique. I was really excited when her email hit my inbox as Beth, the lady behind the scenes was really passionate about she does and what she creates. Here is a little more about her…

Tell us a bit about your business…

Madame B’s Boutique began as a small creative side project back in 2011. I’d studied animation at Kingston University, but through life’s many twists and turns I had ended up working as a librarian in Oxford. I liked the work but missed doing something creative.

I began developing different product lines to see what would work, and by 2013 I started to focus more on weddings. I realised that, although there were plenty of cheap, mass-produced products around, there was a real demand for wedding accessories with an individual, personal touch that were also kind to the environment.

What makes you Unique…

I believe that the combination of original design, a strong ethical background and an emphasis on providing a truly personal service make Madame B’s Boutique stand out from the crowd.

Tells us what you love about your business…

I love coming up with creative solutions to meet, or if possible exceed, customer expectations. For example, I recently created a fascinator for a client with fabric flowers made with remnants from her dress, but in order to make sure she could wear it with other outfits later, I made the flowers detachable.

Even if I wasn’t in business, I would continue to make things just for myself, but I particularly love being able to create things that make other people happy too, and that hopefully they’ll be able to keep and treasure for a long time.

People’s reaction to your business…

I haven’t been working with wedding clients for very long, but I’ve already had some lovely feedback. In particular they mention the level of personal service and interaction – I always try to make sure that they’re kept in the loop for the whole creative process and can make suggestions or changes as things progress. Here are a couple of their comments:

I was after a specific head piece for seven bridesmaids – which had a vintage classic look. I found it quite a challenging to find something within my budget and the specific look I wanted. I met Beth at a vintage fair near Warwick and was struck by how helpful and creative she was.

Nothing was too much trouble and together we agreed a design – and Beth quickly sent me a sample which was perfect. Beth sourced the vintage brooches and managed to match the different colours of the bridesmaid dresses from just a photo! I was delighted with the end product and would not hesitate to recommend Beth’s work and professionalism.   Thank you Beth!

Heleana Greeves (Wedding – May 2014).

They [set of matching buttonholes & cufflinks] arrived safe and sound and are fantastic. Thanks so much. Really appreciate all the time and effort you have put in. We will recommend you to friends and if there is anywhere on your website to leave feedback will leave some well-deserved praise.

Michael Coughlan, (Wedding – September 2014).

Future plans…

I hope to further expand my customer base over the next few years and turn it from a fledgling enterprise to a thriving business. However, it’s also very important to me that I maintain the same level of personal service and ethical values that make the business unique.
