A new catering team joins Mr & Mrs Unique…

A few months back I organised a floral workshop alongside The Basement Florist and we invited The Illustrated Chef to design and create a tasty lunch buffet for our guests… we were not disappointed… it was yummy!

Everyone was expecting the typical few dry sandwiches and some juice… what actually was delivered was vibrant, fun, creative food that tasted delicious!

I have been aware of The Illustrated Chef work for a while as they have been involved with Tie The Knot Wedding Carnival, a wedding fair I co-organise with Binky Nixon. I know first hand how amazing their food is and how creative they can be, working to all types of budgets. So when they agreed to come on site Mr & Mrs Unique I was thrilled!

Darren the owner not only has an eye for presentation but he is full of ideas to suit different themes, budgets and bridal expectations.

Here is Darren to tell us a bit more about The Illustrated Chef

Tell us about the business…

After training in a 2 rosette restaurant, followed by a 1 Michelin star in Birmingham, my itchy feet knew there was more to learn and do, so after several hotels, several countries, and a vast amount of learning, I fell back in to the rat race that is London.

Working for the biggest band caterers in the world on one hand and a esteemed event caterers who hire out the grandest venues the capital has to offer on the other… I knew this was where my path lay.

Competition is rife in London so instead I wanted to bring that to my doorstep and The Illustrated Chef was born. Combining grandeur with locally sourced produce is our ethos, and with our production kitchen on the grounds of Offley Hoo farm in Hertfordshire, I’m making large steps towards my goal.

My unique points are…

Your day is tailored to you, who am I to tell you what to eat!!! I’m just here to exceed expectation!

What I love…

Every client is different, with different ideas and unique aspirations of their big day. I start every day excited about the new different menus I’m about to tailor and get my teeth in to (obviously for health and safety i dont bite anything!)

So far every menu has been received above and beyond their expectations, they love my colourful food and unique twists.

Future Plans…

To open a base farm restaurant to show off what we do on a daily basis where everyone can stop by.
