At Rebel and the Rose I’m a firm believer that all creatives have a rebellious streak. I like to wear mine proudly, and I urge all my couples to do the same. Since starting my floristry business, I have learned that the sorts of wedding flowers that spark my creativity and passion are those that you won’t find on Pinterest. I have no interest in doing what’s been done before, and neither should you – you’re not living someone else’s fairy tale, you’re writing your own.
A love of art and design is in my blood – my mum is a painter, and my dad is a landscape architect. Both my parents have instilled the importance of creativity in me, and it’s meant that throughout my life, I have had a rather gleeful disregard for well-trodden paths and best-laid plans.
While the colours, textures and scents of working with flowers have always been exciting to me – like painting with a living canvas – I took a rather circuitous route to get where I am today. My path to Rebel and the Rose has seen me designing furniture in the north of England, sailing glittering tropical waters on a fleet of super yachts, and orchestrating show-stopping floral displays for an array of luxury events and parties!
The call of the big wide world is still strong, but nowadays I channel it into my work, designing modern, artistic wedding and event flowers for people embarking on their own big adventures. So if you’re ready to start designing your own seriously modern floral fairy tale, have a look at my discover page, take a peek at the portfolio and get in touch for a consultation. Flowers take shape from stories, and I can’t wait to hear yours.
Couples who have a touch of rebellion in their nature and want their wedding to be creative, not seen before and unforgettable.
At Rebel and the Rose, we do wedding flowers a little differently. I’m an event florist without a rulebook, and I invite you to put aside those Pinterest boards and come on an adventure with me, as we explore colours, textures, blossoms and blooms that will spark your imagination.
