Stylish Bridal Accessories for Cool AF Brides…
In a world full of bland wedding veils and chintzy hair accessories, the new Rock n Roll Bride + Crown and Glory collection is super cute, full of glitter and bang on style. Rock n Roll Bride Magazine Editor Kat sums it up ‘it perfect for the kind of bride who wants to stand out, feel like herself and leave a trail of glitter as she stomps down the aisle!’ – YES!!!
Today we chat with the lovely Kat about the collaboration, whats new and we find out what her favourite piece is… (For me its got to be the Lovesick Glitter Birdcage Veil as seen above!)
First day at school introduction to Rock n Roll Bride & Crown & Glory and your collaboration together?
Sophie and I actually met at a blogging workshop I was hosting in 2012. She’s since told me she didn’t even want to go, her friend dragged her along! Well I sure am glad she did – ha! I knew who she was as I’d seen her products featured in Company magazine a few months earlier – small world. Anyway, the workshop happened and we went our separate ways, but we both kept following each other online. A little while later I wrote a blog post about how I wished I could create something… or I wasn’t feeling very creative… or something… I honestly don’t remember and I only know this because Sophie told me about it recently! Anyway I wrote this post, that I don’t remember, which inspired her to email me to ask if I wanted to co-design a collection with her. This was the first time anyone had ever asked me to do anything like that so I was super excited.
Tell us how you and Sophie got working together?
Our first collection was mostly flower crowns and matching clips. It did so well that a year later we decided to do another collection, aimed at bridesmaids. At this point Crown and Glory was mostly focussing on hair accessories, so it didn’t even occur to us that we could do veils! Again, the bridesmaid collection was so popular that finally it hit us, my readers are brides to be… we should be creating something for them specifically (duh!) We launched our first veil collection in January 2016 and it BLEW UP. We kept our price point low, so everyone could afford them, and our designs were completely different to anything else on the market at the time. They were colourful and fun and my readers loved them! This shoot is from the second veil collection, launched in 2017.
What makes this veil collection special?
We had three main aims when designing this collection:
1. To make them fun, colourful and non-traditional.
2. To be inspired by things that we love to wear in our everyday lives. We both love glitter so why not bring that into the veils?
3. To keep them at a price point that all brides could afford. Our most expensive price is £199 but that’s a custom coloured hand dip dyed cathedral length veil with hand-stitched on metallic stars! Our cheapest veil is just £30.
What kind of price points are brides looking at?
Around £30 for a birdcage, £40 for a circle veil and £175-£199 for a cathedral. Everything we do can be customised though so if a bride loves a certain piece but wants it longer, shorter or in a different colour, we can do it!
What’s your favourite piece from the collection?
Nebula all the way. When we created it we weren’t sure if people would get it… plus it was the most expensive piece we’d designed. But it’s actually now one of our most popular designs.
Any new plans for your collaboration?
We’re working on it right now and we’ll be launching it at the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza in November. Watch this space!
