Elvis + Priscilla Bridal Shoot for Rock n Roll Bride Magazine…

Priscilla + Elvis….

Earlier this year I styled on a fashion editorial shoot alongside Alex from The Bijou Bride for Rock n Roll Magazine.

Kat and photographer Lisa Devlin wanted to create a Priscilla, 1960’s vibe, bridal shoot at The Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton. As the idea for the shoot developed we decided that you couldnt have a Priscilla without celebrating her partner Elvis… the King of Rock n Roll!

Alex said ‘Approaching the fashion styling for this shoot I wanted to put myself in a modern day Priscilla’s shoes rather than focus on replication. There are Sixties influences throughout but with a contemporary twist. The stunning scalloped lace detailing on the Katya Katya Shehurina illusion dress and the bow details on those incredible Charlotte Mills bags and shoes are undoubtably retro in feel.

It was such a blast to then take a masculine approach with our beautiful model. The King of Rock & Roll has had such a mighty influence on both men and women’s fashion. And of course there just had to be a tassel element. This Otaduy ‘I Do’ embellished leather fringe bridal jacket is all kinds of amazing. It was important to maintain a subtle sass throughout the Elvis aspect so you’ll note touches of lace, elegant heeled sandals and delicate jewels.’

The team behind the National Vintage Wedding Fair have styled a Christmas wedding shoot, featuring 1960s vintage column dresses, lots of colour and decorations and of course oodles of confetti everywhere!

How about carrying a vintage bauble bouquet? And styling the tables and yourself with pompoms! Maybe a cake covered in sugar baubles in candy pinks to match your kitsch Christmas tree? Whatever your style, you’ll agree that this wedding is colourful and festive – and so much more fun than a traditional deep red, winter wedding!

Any styling tips…

I really wanted to create a Christmas wedding shoot, as so often winter weddings are all deep red in colour with princess like dresses; so, I wanted mine to be bright and fun as Christmas should be. I love the 1960s and have previously styled a wedding shoot using original mini dresses so this time I wanted to focus on the style of dresses that most brides wore at the time – the column dress.
