Hot Chocolate Spoons by Nevie-Pie Cakes…

Quick, Easy, Tasty Christmas Gift..

We have another corking DIY recipe from Natasha from Nevie-Pie Cakes, building up to the Christmas Season!

This week its Hot Chocolate Spoons. I can tell you (,as being a lucky sod who was given some by Natasha herself last year…) that these are winners! Delicious, smooth, chocolatey heaven!!!

Here the very lovely Natasha tells us her secret recipe…


I can’t really call this a recipe, it is really just heating and stirring, but it is a quick and easy make for any last minute Christmas gifts you need to give.

Heat 150g of good quality dark chocolate until melted

Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Stir in 75ml of boiling water, keep stirring until smooth

Spoon 3 small teaspoons onto an ice lolly mold (you should make about 8 from this amount)

Add a wooden spoon

Add some sprinkles and chill in the fridge until hard

Run the outside of the mold under hot water and gently release the chocolate, you may need to put the chocolate in the fridge for a few minutes to harden up again.

Package prettily and give as a gift to a very grateful recipient

Or add it to a mug of hot milk and drink yourself!

Naked Chocolate Cake…

Recently we launched our first Mr & Mrs Unique Online Magazine and Im pleased to say that tons of people have stopped by to read it and we’ve had lots of lovely feedback! Whilst going through the magazine the other day it reminded me of a lovely afternoon cake shoot I did with Louise from A Little Piece of Cupcake. The best thing about cake shoots is the fact you can eat them afterwards! Haha! Anyway, here Louise tells us her recipe for a naked chocolate cake… and yes it was demolished in a hour! Yum!


339g salted butter at room temperature

339g caster sugar

6 eggs

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

80g bourneville cocoa powder

339g plain flour

Pinch of salt

3 tsps baking powder

Cream Icing… 

300ml double cream

3 tbsp s icing sugar

Seeds from 1/2 vanilla pod


Black cherry or black currant preserve

Prepare and line 3, round 8 inch baking tins with baking paper.
