Hot Smoked Buttered Rum…

Hot buttered rum cocktails date back to around 1917 to when early publications of cocktails were around and rum ruled the world. Its roots are based on the colonial days of the rum trade. So as the name suggests it is a simple drink that uses Rum, usually dark,  hot water (or cider), butter, some spices and sweeteners.

We have elevated ours by smoking the butter.  The choice of rum is also important and depends on your palate.  I have used Angostura 1919 as it has a caramel, vanilla finish.

Babes in the Woods’ is a new ‘hen do’ concept that appeals to the more discerning brides to be. Set in 300 acres of beautiful woodland at a secret location on the Raleigh Estate in South Devon, a hen party here is all about comfortable woodland living, complete with champagne and Devonshire cream teas!

Founder, Hetti Dysch has written this guest post for us… With her vast experience and face to face contact with future brides and their parties, she raises the question… are we happy to be called hen’s or is this now an outdated term? Here she discusses:
