A Midsummer Night’s Dream + Shakespeare inspired wedding at Owlpen Manor, Cotswolds

Midsummer Night’s Dream inspired Wedding at Owlpen Manor…

Afternoon folks!

Today we have the smashing wedding of Sonnie & Max who celebrated their marriage at Owlpen Manor in the Cotswolds.

Their day was filled with an abundance of flowers, garden games, street food, magic tricks and Shakespeare references.

Over to Max and Sonnie to tell us more about their day…

How did you meet?

Both of us come from Somerset, but weirdly we didn’t meet there. We actually met at Italia Conti Drama School, where we both trained as actors.

How did you get engaged?

We got engaged on a trip to Loch Awe, in Scotland. Sonnie had booked the holiday, so I had the perfect cover. It was pouring with rain during a trek up to Avich waterfall and I almost delayed, because it was so stormy, but the waterfall is stunning and I went for it. As I went down on one knee the rain stopped and the sun came out. Magic!

Was there an overall theme to your day?

We played with ideas around Shakespeare’s plays and locations. All the tables were locations and all the guests had their own character. Our favourite was casting our 1yr old Nephew as Falstaff, a belching drunkard.

Everything else was set around A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We tried as much as possible

The colourful, Glastonbury-inspired festival wedding of Lucy + Ollie at Southover House, Dorset

Glastonbury-inspired festival wedding

With Glastonbury playing a crucial part in their love story, Lucy and Ollie always knew their wedding would be festival-themed; but they really went above and beyond with Lolliefest at Southover House in Dorset!

Making things bright and colourful with a ribbon installation just like the ribbon tower they got engaged on top of, but keeping it elegant and chic with bohemian styling and pastel bridesmaids, they had a day that was totally Worthy (geddit?). Plus, they had wedding pizza and AN AFTERPARTY DISCO BASEMENT. Best wedding ever?

What was your favourite part of the day?

Their whole day was a dream to shoot, was so refreshing and so well put together, but the dancing in the evening was especially amazing.

These guys met at a festival and clearly know their music… as do all their friends and family! As a result, the dancefloor was always packed and everyone was on such good form that it was a dream to photograph and just loads of fun. Guests were singing up on stage, people were going up on shoulders and – lest I forget – there was a pizza van outside serving amazing pizza. Definitely had a few slices of that after the band finished their first set!

What was your favourite shot of the day, and why?
