Christmas time is here! To celebrate, we welcome back Natasha from Nevie-Pie Cakes who has shared a scrummy homemade Irish Cream recipe with us…I’ll definitely be giving this one a try!

Well Christmas is just around the corner, and rather than risk the bun fight of the shopping malls why not create some homemade presents this year! I know that the phrase ‘homemade’ can conjurer up images of sub-standard gifts, when I was a child I made peppermint creams every year, they were neon green and a variety of unrecognisable shapes, but a homemade gift can be beautiful and delicious.
I have been making Irish cream for many years and I have to say it’s one of the most gorgeous drinks I have ever quaffed. It brings to mind the nectar of the gods because they surely would be tempted by such a rich creamy chocolaty alcohol fueled tipple.
This recipe for Irish cream was given to me about 25 years ago by a vicar, (so surely it is blessed) and has been made nearly every year since. It always goes down a storm and, even if you are not a fan of the commercial stuff, I promise, you will love this. It is so easy to make, taste like heaven, and you must keep the biggest bottle for yourself.

Day of the dead/Mexican inspired cake…

First up is this beauty from MMU’s very own Day of the dead/Mexican photoshoot. This is one of Natasha from Nevie-Pie Cake’s creations, and as always, she did a spectacular job!

She told us about the ideas she had for this cake…

I wanted to create a cake that referenced the Mexican Day of The Dead without going down the floral skull route. I love the bright colours and paper flowers, so I definitely wanted to use paper flowers. I researched some traditional patterns which I painted onto the tiers.
